Anita Catterick - Deacon for Discipleship and Home Groups
Anita and Tony moved to Earith from Hertfordshire in December 2014. They had already considered Bluntisham Baptist Church having been attracted by the website and were very taken with the warmth of the welcome they received. They immediately joined a homegroup in Earith, more or less gate-crashing the Hermitage pre-Christmas celebratory meal! They have two daughters, both married and two grandchildren.
Anita initially trained in music, studying horn and singing, but in 2000 she returned to university to train as a Radiographer. She works part-time at Hinchingbrooke Hospital specialising in Mammography and Bone Density Scanning.
She really values the way that small groups can help people grow and develop as Christians and believes they should be an integral part of church life. Her vision is to ensure that home groups are catering for our 21st-century lifestyle so that everyone who comes to BBC can belong to a small group too. She also sees home groups as having a role in reaching out to the community.
Claire Everett - Deacon for Fellowship
Claire is married to Rob and they have two girls, Sophie and Katie. They live in St Ives and started coming to Bluntisham Baptist Church in 2009, where they were touched by the warm and friendly welcome they received.
She enjoys being part of a number of groups at church including Sunday school, the worship team, Little Fishes and Space. In her spare time she enjoys reading, playing and teaching piano and is a fan of a good curry.
Fellowship is about many things, but Claire feels it is primarily about building and developing relationships and community. At the heart of this is the need to encourage one another and build each other up in love.
It is her hope that with God’s help we would continue to strive to be a warm and inclusive church family that looks both to support and serve one another and to welcome others and actively engage in our local community.
Janet Harris - Deacon for Children and Youth
Janet moved to Cambridgeshire about 15 years ago with her husband Graham and now grown-up children Jack and Grace.
She became a Christian in her mid-twenties and has taken an active part in church life both here at Bluntisham and previously in Essex where she was born and lived until moving into Cambridgeshire. Janet has continued to play an active part in the service of God here at Bluntisham Baptist Church in a variety of ways.
She has been a secondary school teacher for most of her career but 10 years ago became part of the Youth Service with the Local Authority.
Janet says: "I am really looking forward to managing the children and youth work at our church. We have a tremendous group of all age young people, with willing members who teach and nurture them every Sunday. My vision is to support that work and extend it so that all our young people feel valued, respected and most of all want to follow the Christian way of life"
