The Free Gift of God - 9th August

The theme of today’s service as we continue in our Romans series is ‘The Free Gift of God’. Verse 23 of Romans chapter 6 tells us that, ‘the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus’. Perhaps our overfamiliarity with this truth causes us to take for granted what an amazing gift of grace we are offered in Christ. What a special message Paul is delivering to us here in this passage – that we can know eternal life in heaven with Christ.

The Glory of God - 2nd August

Welcome to this, our virtual gathering. Regular viewers will now be becoming used to this form of worship, but if this is your first time you’ve joined us, you’re very welcome. We know that, along with regular attenders at Bluntisham Baptist Church, others, from all parts of the country and, indeed, the world have joined with us for these services. I would like to welcome you, one and all. We pray that you feel the urging of the Holy Spirit as you listen and go out into this new week with hope in your heart.

The Grace of God - 26th July

This is the last week with our shortened service without some of our usual aspects in it. As Tim has explained Peter very kindly offered to produce the online service for the whole of July within the first 7 days before he goes on holiday! However, due to the sheer amount of work this involves cramming into a short space of time, it means that our online services have been a little more ‘slimmed down’ than they have been previously.

The Righteousness of God - 28th June

It’s great that you have chosen to join us this Sunday to participate in online church as we seek to meet with God and grow closer to him as we hear his word, pray and praise together. There will no doubt be mixed thoughts and feelings at this week’s announcement regarding the easing of social distancing measures and travel restrictions for citizens of the United Kingdom. However, what a blessing it is to realise that God’s Kingdom and our freedom of access to God as citizens of heaven has remained completely unrestricted throughout the coronavirus crisis.

As you will hopefully see from our opening video, ‘The Great Realisation’ in today’s online service, one of the blessings from our current situation is the potential for each of us to have our perspectives changed for the better. So as you engage and participate in online church today, may you find the inspiration and ability to give God thanks in all circumstances, to pray and intercede without ceasing for the world events going on around us.

Father's Day - 21st June

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads and people who play a fathering role. Today is when we celebrate you and all that you do to care for others and to help us glimpse a bit of what God’s love looks like.

Recently we have been challenged to make more effort to be inclusive with our virtual worship services. So this morning includes a visual timetable (especially for those who like to know what will happen next) and a familiar song but with Makaton signing so that everyone can join in together.

The Fear of God - 14th June

Please do not be put off by the title of our Sunday service. I am sure that Tim will be putting this into context as he brings us the word of God based on Romans 3:9-20 (New Living Translation version). I think you will all agree that Romans is proving to be rather thought provoking and I know that there are many conversations going on after each sermon which is very encouraging.

During the service Helen will be updating us on the Next Steps project with some exciting news and hot off the press is the news that the removal of the organ will start on the 15th June i.e. tomorrow. This is a positive sign that things are beginning to move again and as always a big thank you to the Next Steps team who are still working hard behind the scenes.

The Faithfulness of God - 7th June

It is hard to believe that we are in our 12th week of facilitating church in this way of doing things. For many of us the internet has been a wonderful blessing during these times of isolation and social distancing and we give thanks to God for that. What was a few months ago mainly a toy for entertainment and information has become a vital tool in enabling us to keep in touch with family, friends, loved ones and work colleagues.

Hebrews 10:25 encourages us as believers to: ‘Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.’ The ‘Day approaching’ there refers the return of Christ, but one could be forgiven for thinking that in the current context that the ‘day approaching’ means the day when we can return to attending church as normal. Unfortunately this is someway off yet. But what has been so encouraging is that even though we are having to adjust to this new and very different way of being the church we have not had to ‘give up meeting together’.

The Honour of God - 31st May

Today is Pentecost Sunday when we as a Church and the churches around the world remember the “birth of the Church” when God sent His Holy Spirit upon the first believers there in Jerusalem. The day that Peter preached and we read that 3000 people repented and were baptised. How blessed we are to have God’s Spirit living in us to guide, comfort, empower and open the Scriptures to us. Our Minister, Tim Williamson, is on his annual leave so we have a guest speaker. Dr. Michael Harrison from Armenian Ministries will be giving a report and preaching.

The Judgement of God - 24th May

Welcome to this, our tenth virtual gathering, this Sunday marks the end of our week of prayer. During this time, we have had 12 and 24 hour times of prayer. There have also been seven evening prayer meetings by Zoom. Each one took a different theme under the general heading of Awakening, giving us an opportunity for us to hear what God had to say to us during this strange feeling period. This week our Minister, Tim Williamson, will be bringing us the word as we continue with our series looking at Paul’s letter to the Romans.

The Power of God - 10th May

This week’s service sees us continuing with our new series in the New Testament book of Romans with Paul Hills. We start our service with a wonderful video, a sung blessing with contributions from people all across the UK. We also have a mission slot from Ian Slater highlighting the ministry of our Beacon Money Advice Centre, which is increasingly going to be a much-needed service to people who find themselves in financial difficulties due to the consequences of Covid-19.

Last week Tim introduced the next sermon series based on Romans and accordingly Peter Thatcher will be taking us on the first part of the journey starting at Romans 1 vs 1:13 if you would like to get your bibles ready. The service will also include communion which will remind us that although we are apart physically we are all united in Christ.

Introduction to Romans - 26th April

This week sees us starting a new sermon series working through Paul's Letter to the Romans.

We have gathered to worship God together and give to God, not just to receive, so I would urge you not to just skip to the sermon, but to think what you can give to God in word, prayer or song. It’s my prayer that as we share in this act of Sunday worship together that we will meet with King Jesus. God is not just in the Chapel in Bluntisham but in our homes and in our hearts.
