Beacon Cafe

Cafe

The Beacon Café began life as a spark back at the beginning of 2005. Many meetings and much planning later, the Beacon Café opened its doors to the community on Wednesday 7 September 2005.

The idea behind the café is to offer a place where people can meet, relax, find company and have a sense of community. We aim to offer quality in all that we do through service, the environment of the café and the products we sell. Where possible, we like to use fairly traded products to support our global community. Even closer to home all our regular cakes are homemade. We also try to provide a gluten-free option, but we must admit that this is not always homemade.

Opening times

We are open every Wednesday (except the two Wednesdays over Christmas and New Year) from 2 to 4.30pm

Our Mission Statement

We aim to provide an attractive non-threatening café venue, offering quality service and a warm welcome through a team of Christians committed to demonstrating the love of Christ and the values of his kingdom in all things.

We are Fairtrade

The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal.

Where possible, we like to use fairly traded products to support our global community. So our teas, coffees, hot chocolate, children’s fruit juice cartons and sugars are all Fairtrade products.

What our customers say...

We were surprised to see how far some of our customers had travelled when we received this via our Church website:

"Hello from America, My sister Kathleen, our friend Jan, and I visited your church late last month. We especially liked the Beacon Cafe on Wednesday afternoons. When we arrived in England, yours was the first friendly faces we met. And the tea and cakes were wonderful to us weary travelers. In fact, everyone we met in your congregation were wonderful. Your church is very blessed and I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you all. You are a shining light in the community. Keep your doors open and showing God's love to every stranger."
