Church Leaders
Baptists believe that, under God, the government of the local church is best done by
church members meeting together in a spirit of prayer and friendship to discuss and agree
on what God wants them to do. In a Baptist Church every member is encouraged to be involved
and use their gifts.
The Church Meeting appoints the minister and a group of deacons to take
responsibility for
day-to-day spiritual and practical leadership of the church.
Our leadership team includes:
|

Nick Hudson - Minister
Nick has been the minister here since September 1999. Before training to be
a minister he was a teacher. Married to Wendy, they have two children: Matthew (born in 1999)
and Bethany (born in 2001). Nick's hobbies include sport, especially
football and tennis, and singing, especially 'Close Harmony'. His ambition
is to belong to a newly-formed 'Bluntisham
Tennis Club'.
Nick is passionate about enabling people who are interested in the Christian
faith to understand it, to find Jesus, and to find their place in God's
family, the church.

Ann Wassall
Ann has been married for 36
years and has two children (age 28 and 24) who are still living at
home. "I think they like having their clothes washed and food prepared
for them on a regular basis!", she says.
Ann was a civil servant and
is now
enjoying her retirement. She has been worshipping at Bluntisham for
about 20 years and this is her second term as a deacon. Ann was
baptised on Easter Sunday, 2003, which she says, was one of the happiest days of
her life.

football team. Hobbies include football, going to the gym, reading and

children and is also involved in Sunday School and music group.
Her hobbies include a lot of reading and watching films. |

Gillian Sudgen - Treasurer
Gillian has been attending
the church since her family moved here in 1984, and has been church
treasurer since 1996. Gillian cooks exceedingly good cakes and
preserves for the local Country Market. Not surprisingly therefore she also
organises much of the church's catering too.
Gillian has two
grown-up daughters; Isabel
and Joanna (a GP in Leeds). Gillian says that as treasurer she has
learnt that "God can always be trusted to provide everything we really
need".

John Holmes
John is married to Joy in 1969 and has three children and two
granddaughters. He was baptised in 1987, moving to St. Ives in 1989 and
joining the church in Bluntisham. He helps leading worship, Sunday
Half-hour, part of the welcoming and visitation teams, and helps in the
café (looks great in the plastic apron and pink marigolds).
He retired
three years ago after spending over 40 years occupied in transport and,
latterly, work on the new developments. He is now involved, with others,
in seeking to build churches in the new communities, the EBA, Community
Transport, and, occasionally, driving the Connections Bus.
Aside from
his interest in transport and community building, he is a football
supporter, if a Leicester City season ticket holder can be so
characterised.

passionate foodie!
Rob was first elected to the leadership team in 2005 and held the role

responsibility for Fabric & Facilities when Gordon stood down and is

a fully fledged member of the team and says: "the first three years have
